Gold Quill Awards – Final deadline March 5

Now’s the time to build your reputation for excellence. We’ve expanded the timeframe and made it possible for anyone who’s entered before to enter again. If you submitted an entry in 2011 or 2012 and didn’t win, you can re-enter that work. If you didn’t submit an entry, but were thinking about it, you qualify under the revised rules. You can enter online, so no need to run out and purchase big three ring binders, create fancy covers, or stay up late using that three-ring hole punch. You’ll probably spend more time trying to figure out which of the 46 categories fits your superb work! If you’re wondering how to begin, check out the Gold Quill at a glance and create your compelling entry. And look for a separate email sent earlier today from Claire Watson on how to create that entry in six hours or less. The final deadline is midnight on Tuesday, 5 March. World Conference – New York! New York!

World Conference – New York! New York!

US News ranked New York at number 5 among the top 10 vacation destinations in the world. Author Ayn Rand once wrote, “I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York’s skyline.” You can experience the destination, skyline and more at this year’s World Conference. Speakers are lined up. Sessions have come together. Now all you have to do is register here.

Congratulations to IABC SC

2012 Southern Region Conference a huge success!

Charleston, South Carolina was the site of the 2012 IABC Southern Region Conference. IABC South Carolina hosted an extraordinary event, filled with memorable moments, top-notch professional development, multiple networking opportunities and lots of fun. We learned to shag, we improved our communication tactics and strategies, and gained inspiration to take back to the office.

Hosting the conference requires time, commitment and hard work. We’d like to thank Conference Chairs Tammie Epps and Pat Jackson, along with their dedicated planning committee:

Joy Capps, Stefanie Caraviello, Zenica Chatman, Patrick Cobb, Mike Deas, ABC, Jan Easterling, Karla Falk, Patricia Freshwater, Ashley Jackson, Elena Mappus, Jeanne Reynolds, Kimberly South, Leslie Ann Sully and Lauren Todd.

Without these volunteers, there would be no conference.

Interested in hosting the Southern Region Conference?

Would your chapter like to host the Southern Region Conference in the future? This is a wonderful opportunity for your team and a chance to show off your home town. It requires a lot of time, commitment and creativity, but the rewards are numerous. For more information, contact Southern Region Vice Chair Dianne Chase at chase@c4cs.com or Regional VP of Communications Courtney Sutherby at clsnola75@gmail.com.

Real people talk.

Linked In. Blogs. Twitter. Facebook. Pinterest. Technology surrounds us but communication is still about real people talking. As technology advances, the IABC Southern Region wants to remind communicators that real people do still talk and it’s an integral part of our profession.

To help communicators remember to engage their customers on a personal level, the Southern Region is reaching out to communicators across the globe to bring to them to Charleston, S.C., for our regional conference on Sept. 26-28, 2012.

The conference will consist of approximately twenty 75-minute breakout sessions as well as two keynote sessions.

IABC Southern Region Announces Accreditation Scholarships

Southern Regional IABC members, have you always wanted to be accredited?

Accreditation is IABC’s professional credential program recognizing communicators who have reached a globally accepted standard of knowledge and proficiency in their chosen field. This peer-reviewed program challenges candidates to demonstrate their knowledge of strategic communication planning, implementation, measurement and ethics.

Candidates meeting the requirements of the program earn the designation Accredited Business Communicator (ABC).

Now is the time to take the accreditation leap and receive a scholarship from your regional board of directors.

The Southern Region of IABC wants to recruit new ABCs in its region and is now offering Accreditation Scholarships to its members!

The 2012/2013 Southern Regional Accreditation Scholarship will cover half of a member’s application fee once the member has earned accreditation.

For more information on accreditation, or to begin the application process, go to: http://www.iabc.com/abc/

If you are a current candidate or prospective candidate for accreditation, and a member of a Southern Region Chapter, please contact Paul Lindsley, ABC, So. Regional accreditation coordinator, for more information about scholarships at: plindsley@hotmail.com
