Writing a Winning Silver Quill Entry

All entries must have the Silver Quill entry form as the cover sheet. The entry document should be submitted on three typed pages, minimum point size 10 points.

Agencies are welcome to enter work done on behalf of their clients.

On the first page of your three-page entry summary, include the following information about the entrant/work entry:

  • Entrant name
  • Name of entrant organization
  • Entry category
  • Title of entry

Then, complete your entry by clearly describing your work under each of the following subheads:

Purpose
What was the purpose for this project? What need or opportunity did it address? How did the need or opportunity affect the organization before you began? In other words: Why did you do what you did?

Intended audience
Describe your intended audiences and specify which audience characteristics caused you to select this solution instead of other available approaches.

Objectives
What measurable or specific objectives did you set for your project? Objectives answer the question: How would will we know if and when we succeeded?

Project description
Describe the project and its elements, including budget, schedule and limitations such as time, money and other resources. How did you deal with limitations or challenges that could have affected the results? In other words, explain how you implemented your project plan.

Measurement of effectiveness
What indicators did you use to measure each objective? What results were achieved? In other words, how successful were you?  Explain what was learned from successes and failures that you'll apply to other communication projects/efforts.
